A CHILD DIES EVERY 26 SECONDS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE CLEAN WATER!
Many children have to collect water for their family. In addition, the water is often unhealthy. When students in the United States participate in a water carrying event or other act of kindness to raise funds, they can help children and adults in Africa have pure drinking water.
Children of Compassion helps children in the United States and children in Africa learn how to make clean drinking water. In the process, everyone involved learns about the challenges and available solutions to breaking the cycle of poverty. Students learn that access to clean water is one of the first steps to transform lives as people become free from water borne diseases.
The Children of Compassion "Water Walk" is an event for all ages. Students bring a container to hold water and emulate the often long walk that people in Africa must perform each day to survive. We teach what is being done to bring access to clean drinking water to people in great need and how to purify water.
Students walk 1 mile on the school grounds. Students carry water, often in teams, and can earn prizes in this fun act of kindness.
