School Fundraising

Our objective is to produce educated adults of character and integrity who support themselves and their families through a productive career. The challenge is especially difficult in Africa which has experienced intergenerational poverty and lacks a strong educational infrastructure.

Almost all schools need to raise funds each year. Often students are selling candy or other products with little connection to their education. Our acts of kindness program is designed to raise money for students in the United States and for orphaned and disabled children in Africa. We do this by offering life-memorable and joy filled acts of kindness. Specifically, we help children in the United States and children in Africa help each other.

The primary school fundraising activity consists of student participating in a 1 mile "fun run" or "water walk" activity where students work as teams to carry water. The process starts with the school principal sending an email to parents informing them of the fundraiser and the prizes that their children can earn. Often the laps completed by students are structured as 1/10th of a mile. Each child receives a Children of Compassion T-shirt. On the back of the shirt are 10 checkboxes, and as each lap is completed, a volunteer (often a parent), checks the box on the back of the T- shirt. When combined with upbeat music and interactions with children in Africa via collaboration technology, the run or walk is a lot of fun for everyone involved.
